A region with rich culture & diversified economy

Hilir Perak as the word indicates, occupies the lower part of Perak River, hence this district comprises of mainly low lying areas which act as flood plains.

Hilir Perak is bordered on the south by the Selangor state bounder, on the north by the Manjung District and the east by Batang Padang District.

It covers a total area of over 172,000 hectares and has a population of about 233,000 people.

The largest town as well as the administrative centre is Teluk Intan.

Being almost totally flat, Hilir Perak is fertile, it thus became one of the areas in Perak most sought after by the British.

A major part of its agricultural area is planted with oil palm, rubber, coconut and padi.

Its rich soil has resulted in the oil palm plantations being among the most productive in the country.  Other industries have also crept in and thus providing more income to the people.
